The South Los Angeles Industrial Tract Business Improvement District

was established in 2007 and has had a tremendous impact in improving the area. The Clean & Safe programs funded by BID assessments continually address the evolving needs of our stakeholders and community. SLAIT, aka the Goodyear Tract, has a long history as a vibrant industrial district and looks forward to a promising future. It is one of the more active business districts in the City, with approximately $1.4 billion in sales, over 200 companies, and approximately 4,000 employees.  The Slauson Rail to River project, a $2 million Gage Median Improvement Project and new developers introducing creative uses of space are all propelling the Tract in an exciting direction.

The South LA Industrial Tract BID is a self-imposed, annually assessed, Business Improvement District (BID) comprised of 152 commercial property owners representing over 400 parcels. The BID was formed with the sole purpose of enhancing the industrial area primarily through safety and maintenance programs and is approximately 22 blocks; an area bounded roughly by Slauson Avenue on the North, Florence on the South, Central Avenue on the East and Avalon Avenue on the West.

The BID expires in December 2024 and must be renewed again to continue the much-needed and very successful programs. Please click below for a full copy of the Management District Plan and Certified Engineer’s Report.

Property owners are strongly encouraged to fill out a Trespass Arrest Authorization form. This form allows the LAPD to better assist businesses with the removal and potential arrest of those who loiter, commit narcotics-related crimes or paint graffiti on private property. The form must be filed with Newton Division and the appropriate No Trespassing signage must be posted on your property. For more info, call the Safety Patrol office at 323 752-0006 and they will assist in filling out the form and filing it with LAPD.

PARKING COMMITTEE

The SLAIT BID has recently formed a Parking Committee to address the increased parking challenges in the district. With a variety of new uses, additional employees, and a thriving industrial area, we have seen parking related issues on several of our streets. The committee consists of members of the Board and stakeholders in the district. The Committee has held several meetings and has determined that to achieve anything truly impactful and obtainable, the City of Los Angeles and the Department of Transportation must take a lead in these efforts. The BID will work to encourage that partnership.

I own and operate a business in the Good Year Tract for more than 20 years. The improvements that have taken place are too many to mention. I can very undoubtedly attest to the positive impact that the SLAIT BID has had. The proactive manner in which issues are addressed makes it a lot easier to do business. Keep up the great work!
